Ian Fleming’s House : James Bond Golden Eye Villa

• Private Pool
• Private Beach

The three bedroom Fleming House is the original building where Ian Fleming wrote 17 of his Bond books. The Ian Fleming villa, designed by Fleming himself, is a spare and simple three-bedroom house, built on a cliff over the beach. Expansive windows are protected by overhanging eaves, and have shutters instead of glass to allow for maximum enjoyment of the views and cool sea breezes.

The focus is on the exuberant outdoors with garden bathtubs and showers. Furnishings are from East Asia, including oversized bamboo sofas and totem like Japanese obisps. The overlaying of island cultures gives the Fleming House an easy feeling of comfort. The steps down from the front door of the house lead to a sunken garden, reportedly Fleming’s favorite spot. Here, he breakfasted daily, while he drank in the beauty of the pristine sea before him.
The extra large bamboo king bed in the master bedroom is draped in white muslin as are the bamboo queen and twin beds in the other two bedrooms.

A separate media room with theatre sized movie screen features an enormous Balinese platform couch. The graceful garden swimming pool and patio, with sea view, offer another space for sun and play.

Ian Flemings original house features a stunning view of the sea, three bedrooms with optional air-conditioning, garden baths and showers, swimming pool, sunken garden, separate media play room with theatre screen, exotic Balinese furniture, private beach and kitchen.

Nearly a thousand years ago the site was declared a sacred burial ground by the Taino indians, the original inhabitants of Jamaica. Several centuries later the property was associated with the pirate Captain Henry Morgan (later Governor of Jamaica) who placed a lookout and dug a secret escape tunnel to Port Maria. In 1948 Sir Noel bought the property from the Lindo family and built his house here. During the 50's and 60's Firefly became the winter retreat for his friends and admirers such as Errol Flynn, Sean Connery, Laurence Olivier, Elizabeth Taylor and Queen Elizabeth II.

VACATION AT JAMES BOND’S GOLDEN EYE VILLA

It's all about the spirit. Sensibility. And heart. It is about the feeling. The rush of discovery. The joy of independence. The bliss of authencity. The price in standing up for quality and character.

We like to provide our guests with a level of service so natural, guests will feel as if they are staying in the home of good friends. The atmosphere will be casual and friendly and we will endeavor to make each a fun place with food fresh and local, service efficient and unobtrusive.

Beaches, tropical forest, caves, hideaways and sports - all the ingredients for a truly exclusive retreat are waiting for you at the Flemning’s house.

Golden Eye an 18-acre seasıde retreat is nestled among tropical forests and lush gardens on a seaside bluff overlooking the Caribbean where you can put a little distance between yourself and the rest of the world. Our lifestyle is pure Jamaican in rhythm and tempo, "easy". We offer you a window to local culture and a different way of living.

Golden Eye is also historic. This is where Ian Fleming crafted all his James Bond novels. What Fleming loved most about Golden Eye was the out of doors, nature, the sounds and colors, the peace and drama of living by the sea. He delighted in "the blazing sunshine, natural beauty and the most healthy life I could live."

Golden Eye offers ample opportunities for a man - or woman - of action. Skim past flying fish, cookout under a sea almond tree or picnic on secluded black sands. Lure tuna, snapper, marlin or barracuda from the deeper stretches on a fishing charter. Jet ski to Laughing Waters, the stunning private beach where Ursula Andress unforgettably emerged from the sea in Dr. No.

Take to the turquoise waves as a sailor, kayaker or windsurfer. Tennis, hiking, biking and dolphin encounters can also be arranged. Snorkelers adore the intricate coral reef, which shelters Gazebo Beach. Golden Eye's water sport instructors and lifeguards assist guests here daily. They're happy to shuttle visitors across the lagoon to Low Cay, the resort's exclusive beach, which has excellent birdwatching and trails through an undeveloped park.

Soothe any sore muscles with a restorative massage. Best of all, therapists come to you: relax in the comfort of your villa or in a tranquil, tropical garden, graced by parakeets and mango trees.

Fleming once mused: "Would these books have ever been written if I had not been living in the gorgeous vacuum of a Jamaican holiday? I doubt it." This popular author found great inspiration here - and now guests can too.
